loveletter to 20 years of motherhood

20 years ago today you delivered this being into the world. i am so grateful that he chose you to come through and bless your life with his magic. he turned you into a new person—teaching lessons you never imagined you would need to learn. i am so proud of the people you are both becoming.

these are lola’s hands on him just a few hours after he took his first breath. and as i write this, he is still safe in lola’s hands—on an epic trip to italy to celebrate his 20th birthday.

may i always be present with the enormity of the gift that he is, that my mother is, and that i am.
