Hello

I’m sharing tools and reflections on physical, emotional and spiritual wellness in the hopes my stories can help someone out there.

List of love commitments

all the tubes were removed yesterday afternoon. since the epidural was removed around 4pm, I decided to stay one more night to make sure my pain was managed properly. I had a good night’s sleep—and woke up doing reading and meditiation.

Going home I feel like I’ve got a second chance at this transformation I am gunning for. so i am committed to working these lessons i’ve learned while in the hospital:

1) continuously working on my breathing - breathing through the nose, extending my exhales, using sleep tape at night, sharing these breathing practices with the kids.

2) continously working all the tools from my dog trainer. this may sounds weirdly irrelevant. but i’ve known for some time, that my trainer has identified patterns with my dog that, if addressed, will fix lifelong patterns that have been causing me harm. i was reminded again yesterday as my trainer clearly knows my whole life by spending one week with my dog. it’s funny, but it’s also very real. she can see my conflict avoidance, my lack of strong boundaries, along with other things that are contributing to problem behaviors in katara.

3) investing in my wellness - deidcating resources to working with wellness practitioners to help me reset, understand my baseline, and make the necessary changes

4) anti-inflammatory diet - no coffee, no sugar, no dairy for at least 3 months

5) resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die

6) Don’ts (to apply to my children)

DON’T…
Be Self-Righteous
Try to dominate, nag, scold or complain
Lose Your Temper
Try to push anyone but yourself
Keep bringing up the past
Keep checking on your adult child
Wallow in self-pity
Make threats you don’t intend to carry out
Be over-protective
Be a doormat
